Terry and I just realized that we have a bit of an anniversary to celebrate. It was a year ago June 1 that we crossed the border into Virginia and began our new life here. It’s been a great year and we’re extremely happy with our decision to come here.
We were reminiscing over a bottle of good Williamsburg Winery white wine (we’re members since the winery is only 10 minutes from the house!) and we started to think about all the people that had serious positive influences on our lives. It turns out that there are two Realtors on the short list – and you’re one of them.
The first was in 1984. Being very young, with not much money and a few debts, a local Realtor pretty much laughed us out of her office. She had a new agent in her office however that decided she was going to make it her mission to get us into a home. Her name was Lynn Reif and she managed to find us a piece of land, a builder, and a mortgage broker who were willing to string together some financial magic, a few short bridge loans, and a whole lot of trust in us to get us into our first home. It was a plain raised ranch on an old farm a moderate ways out of town, but it was ours and she made it happen. Timing was on our side too, and 24 months later we were able to sell it for twice what we paid for it (she got that listing …) and the rest is history.
Almost 40 years later, you came along and somehow managed to talk us into, and then get us through the renovations and sale last year. We never could have done it without you. Terry and I will never forget your unwavering positive attitude and your calm influence in those moments where we thought we were never going to get it done in time. We can honestly say that without you we would not be here in Williamsburg right now, surrounded by our grandkids and enjoying life to its fullest. For that we are eternally thankful.
